Course Description

Students will build a two or four wheeled self-propelled vehicle.
This is an introductory Unit Standard qualification for people interested in mechanical engineering technology, and has been developed primarily for use in Secondary Schools to attract students to careers in mechanical engineering or related trades or professions. The qualification is also intended to provide students with a well-balanced, practically orientated course that develops lifelong skills, stimulating self-esteem, confidence and a pride in paying attention to detail.
This course can lead to: National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology (Level 1) NZQA Ref NQF 1263. This is a practical based course aimed at preparing students who wish to undertake a mechanical apprenticeship. The course encapsulates the teaching of safe use of both hand and machine tool skills.
