Course Description

Course Highlights: Students will have an individual learning programme selected from the standards above. Performing in or supporting the Te Aroha College School Production. All students will be required to attend the Thursday Smart Day Production course where the opportunity to gain credits will be individually tailored to suit their skill set. Students who have multiple talents can work on stage and contribute to staging designs as well. The 2022 Production will be a Musical, the title of which is yet to be confirmed. All students will be required to attend out-of-school rehearsals and perform or support the school wide performance as required. Actors, Singers and Dancers will be required to perform in front of an audience in an acting, singing or a dancing role or a mixture of these. They will be required to create sequences of dance and develop their characters. Backstage students will be required to work with actors and dancers, stage managers and the teacher/director to create, produce and implement set, lighting, sound, costume and make-up design.
Vocational Pathway: Creative Industries.
This course can lead to: confidence and relationship building; school leadership; a course at Level 3; a career in Performance, Film, TV, Journalism, Marketing, Communications and Public Relations, Teaching, Politics and the Law.

Recommended Prior Learning
Students need to be able to manage themselves and relate to others well, whether working on stage or backstage. All students will be required to attend the Thursday Smart Day Production course.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
$20 to see a professional Dance troupe perform in Tauranga or Hamilton.
